Overview

In this Virtual Taster Course, you will take on the role of Operations Assistant at Barclays. As part of your onboarding training, you have been asked to review a payment process at the bank, known as SWIFT. A SWIFT message is a widely recognized set of instructions and sharing this message with clients is part of the Operations Assistant’s day-to-day. SWIFTs involve sending payments from one bank to another. For example, a message comes through asking if the SWIFT message can be shared with the client. Barclays' job is to forward it to the client, who then forwards it to the beneficiary.

What's included

SWIFT messages are highly risk-laden documents. As part of the task, we will provide you with a flow chart of an old process for sending SWIFT messages and ask you to reflect on any risks associated with this process. In the second part of the task, we will ask you to highlight 2-3 improvements you would make to make the process more secure.
